Why are affirmations so important?
An affirmation is a strong, positive statement that is spoken out loud. It’s a way to convince your subconscious mind, and in return, create a positive reality. If you ever find yourself thinking negatively often, affirmations allow you to eliminate this type of thinking and bring in positive energy on a day-to-day basis. Essentially, what you feed your mind is what turns into your reality. In order to succeed, the best way is to dismiss all negative thinking and replace it with positive statements. According to research, it is very easy to dwell on negative thoughts constantly and forget about the positive aspects, therefore it is important to convince your mind and bring in positive energy.
Rules for Affirmations:
Use present tense. (For example: “I have completed all my pending tasks for this month” instead of “I will complete all my pending tasks by April”.
Should be specific and short.
You can use any statement, change it, and keep it to yourself. There’s no need for anyone else’s approval. This is for your personal benefit.
These statements must be repeated throughout the day, and especially done while meditating through art. Doodling this statement, or writing it down multiple times gets your mind in a state of ‘flow’. You can then tap into your subconscious mind.
Visualize your phrases, and feel them as if they already exist.
Benefits of Affirmations:
Provides self confidence in moments of anxiety or discomfort, by making you feel more positive about yourself.
By affirming something, you force yourself to take action no matter how hard it may seem, so once you start an action it further boosts your desire to continue it till the final results.
Helps to change your negative moments into positive ones.
Affirmations open you to trying new things, which could mean new opportunities and possibilities.
Since affirmations are totally flexible to one’s needs, you can set them around what empowers you to create a new happy way of life.
You might just increase your lifespan, people with a positive outlook on life tend to have a chance of 50%-70% more than average to live up to the age of 85, according to research.
Another research study has also shown that optimists are 74% less likely to have insomnia and more likely to get a proper night of sleep.
